The welcome center is situated in an advantageous location, giving you a great vantage point when taking pictures, so don’t miss out on this opportunity to take a cute photo by the bridge. End your day by walking, driving, or biking across the bridge for a better view surrounding the bridge, including the nearby town, Sausalito.
Alcatraz Island
The island situated in the middle of San Francisco Bay houses the famous Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary, the previous dwelling place of some of the United State’s infamous criminals, Al Capone and Machine Gun Kelly. Take a ferry ride to Alcatraz Island on Pier 33, and check out the view of the Golden Gate Bridge on your way. Since it’s a popular destination in San Francisco, it’s ideal to book a ticket to the island ahead, just to be sure.
Lands End
If you’re into hiking, San Francisco’s Golden Gate National Recreation Area is where you should go since its trails have the best views of the ocean and the Golden Gate Bridge itself. Lands End is free, so there are a lot of locals and tourists here, but since it has a lot of nice spots for taking pictures and picnics, it’s still worth visiting nonetheless. Drop by the Sutro Baths when you’re around the area too, for more scenic vibes. Take note that Land’s End is within the Richmond District, so it can get foggy.
The Painted Ladies at Alamo Square
The “Painted Ladies” are a line of charming Victorian mansions that were even featured in the show “Full House,” which makes the area a favorite frequent attraction by both tourists and locals. The mansions are located near Alamo Square Park, so it’s a great area for walks, picnics, and picture taking. And if you want to check out the actual house in the said TV show, go by Broderick Street to catch a glimpse of the legendary “Full House House” around the Pacific Heights neighborhood.
Fort Point National Historic Site
If you’re a history buff and would love to have a guided tour near the Golden Gate Bridge, consider visiting Fort Point National Historic Site. Built during the 1800s as a defense to protect the bay area, the architecture of this historic fort is not like any other building in San Francisco, giving it a unique vibe. Baker Beach

Named after Lillie Hitchcock Coit, a benefactor of this beautiful landmark, the Coit Tower located on Telegraph Hill is a magnificent building that beautifies San Francisco’s skyline. The inside of the building does not fall short in stunning visitors too as it houses the lovely murals painted since 1934. What’s amazing is that you can even enjoy a 360-view of San Francisco city inside its observation deck. And if you’re lucky enough, you can spot a flock of wild parrots hanging by the deck.
Lombard Street
End your visit by walking on the world’s most crooked street as stated by the Guinness World Records, Lombard Street. The steep hills made San Francisco’s Lombard Street the way it is now, which naturally evolved also because of the many encroaching buildings surrounding it. The twisted street is the best when taking photos but quite challenging when taking walks.
